describe changes and challenges happened in communication

Changes in Philippine communication cannot be considered as changes because it  doesn’t totally develops the interaction of people in the society. Although government pursue several steps for the improvement, the result remains unchanged. Base on my observation, with all the changes that has been listed in the article  were all didn’t create moving objectives but an indication of programs of promises ” to”. This implies that Philippines is just under development but has no  an  assurance yet for the changes in action of communicators  or the effect of  the implementation of  countermeasures. We might knew those importance, we might have learned with their trainings, but a question in my mind is do people can be willing to apply of what they have learned?

Challenges has no different in changes in Philippine communication. It will cannot build until those changes were undone. Changes is also an accomplishment. Yes we have freedom but how can we use this freedom especially media personnel for everyone’s sake?

How can old media cope up with the new technology

Balance of information regardless of   today’s some challenges in communication can attain if the new technology will be used properly.

Today, cellular phones were widely used and had brought great help for people to connect themselves in each other. With the aid of new digital technology, the equilibrium of information distribution in both rural and urban areas is now easy. Television, radio, computer, magazine and newspaper are now being widely contribute to the mass. People  now easy reach and access with various updates  in and out of  the world.

The more technology will develop, the more opportunity for people to experience the essence of the new technology.Such development has an advantage and disadvantage to  communicators in society. However,it  aids and helps mass media in many ways. Conversion  into more useful  electronic device  is not a guarantee for the real meaning of improved technology but rather it depends upon on how the image of one’s character of communicator be justified in using the new technology of information. And it  seems that they doesn’t care of the values and ethics which has something to do with the challenges beyond new technology.

World Wide Web or internet is one of the vital aspect of now emerging advance technology . For example is the orientation of language  for the convenient use of the client . The Facebook is an example which enables the user to modify the setting on his account if he can’t understand  other country’s dialect. A Filipino user may use Tagalog language if he is unable to understand English. The good thing of it is the user is in control whether he may want to expose in public or in private depending on what is his desire. Another example is the forum which  mostly conducted today via on-line. Participation can be possible even attendees  are in  different far places  who are  unable to attend personally especially when meeting requires urgency. With the help of this technology it is now easy to reach globalization.

These good effects of new technology however still have fear and uncertainty to the part of mass media’s action. Everybody must aware that with this kind of technology, everything may change in just one slap or click. And if further development of technology will continue to arise in communication, time will come that someone’s privacy will be hard to keep unless he will set a password on everything he do and everything about him.

Media: Don’t fear New Technologies

Ecumenical communication has been developed because of dynamic technology which entered into human’s life changing  lifestyles of people in the society. The “natural”  way of the past was seemingly left behind while technology keeps its pace to the condition of uncertainties of the nearcoming future.

The world’s condition and development arises continuously. However,it is good to remember that communication happened  in human history were older concepts and designs  as a good basis  which  had been a great help for the upward movement of communication. Everything which became a part of innovation from older medium of information such as language, rhetoric, writing, and printing were significantly the start of discovering and developing of the this technology.

New technology is an advance reflection of the future. It can provide everything which did not yet develop in the past. Previous information technology has limitation in spreading out of information. Today, if people want to achieve something,it is possible to happen thru inventions and discoveries that leads for  greater access and opportunity with what is missing in this world.

With the new technology,- a way to connect people can do even a historical one,an experience which is not available in the previous technology. Nowadays, people can never be late with the updates  and can discern the features of this wonderful world.

article1: ( a summary)

In Crispin’s C. Maslog’s ” The Philippine Communication Today: Profile and Challenges proclaimed that changes in communication  in the country had never been changed over the past years.Mass media personnel may change but the system remains and flows the same up to the recent time.

It seems that democracy doesn’t matters.Communication before is a moment of silence for journalism because to speak out is really a life-threatening particularly to martyr people because martial law under Ferdinand Marcos government overpowered their rights and freedom.  Benigno Aquino Jr. gave hope and inspiration to recover the triviality amid  his country that paved the way of being in a critical condition for mass media people.

In 1986, EDSA revolution struggled to come up with the most clamored “freedom”of people. Since then, they claimed the democracy but communication remains undeveloped as in the past years’ profile.

Giving way back to the record of the press from Metropolitan and the community, illustrated the discrepancy upon spreading out of magazines and newspapers. According to the survey from urban Filipino readers, the credibility of the press is the strength of the Philippine newspaper because their priority is finding information and getting updates although they prefer broadcast from television and radio rather than newspaper. Credibility depends upon the performance to get the most highly rated press.

Journalism develops socialization. However, people had  doubts when it turn to honesty of the press because of the tumult happened during martial law. To fill this gap in rural media, the Catholic National Office of the Mass Media, NOMM, for brevity launched the rural mimeo press and the blackboard newspaper.

Ang Bandilyo of Malaybalay Bukidnon is the more famous mimeo newspaper which was supplemented by Diocesan radio station DXBB. This project ended in 1976 and ran out of the fund in Dec. 31, 1988.

The Moalboal Times in Moalboal, Cebu is the forerunner newspaper. It was edited by Fr. Francisco Silva.News was written in the blackboard and have permeated among community people.

In 1977, Hatid Kabatiran sa Barangay was a similar project launched by the National Media  Production Center, NMPC.This project failed in trying to establish both aforementioned projects in Rosario and Balayan Batangas. The new program was  initiated called Community Organization Program or the COP, a barangay-based who organized groups for drama and theater, speaker’s bureaus and libraries.

Komiks were also became a medium in rural areas. However, there is very little information and values for society’s development and learning. The broadcast media such as radio and television stations are truly becoming  the country’s mass medium .The owner of the medium is higher than in urban areas. The cinema is also become part of change in socialization.

Nowadays, various agencies and offices are being used intended for government information  service such as Office of the Press Secretary,OPS,(Ministry of Public Information before),Philippine Information Agency,PIA( National Media Production Center before and is now placed under OPS and Philippine News  Agency.

There are various changes in communication such as realization  as it is the missing link in rural areas, the improvement of provisions in the Philippine Constitution, offering of more communication courses covering not only for good deeds of government but for the upward flow of new communication techniques and training programs.

Of  course  challenges were subsequently emerged upon these changes and developments that the Philippine communicators shall balance the flow of information in rural and urban areas, develop more oriented-language for the mass , comply to the society needs, to become free of criticisms and the final  challenge is to make the mass media be the instrument to speak the voice of people.
